As elsewhere in the Pacific Northwest, coffee shops abound. Some limit their offerings to espresso drinks, while others offer baked goods, groceries, or deli items as well.

Chocolat on Fort Street not only makes delicious espresso drinks, but at the same time, you can gather an astounding array of fabulous Island made chocolates for later in the day, or to take home for presents.
Paradiso Di Stelle is on Bastion Square near Wharf street. Paradiso uses Illy coffee, gets their baked goods form the Italian bakery on Quadra, and has a wide range of delicious gelati selections.
Bean Around the World on Fisgard Street in Chinatown offers excellent organic coffee, and is a bustling place where people watching has become an art form.
Ottavio on Oak Bay Avenue stocks local cheeses and exotic imported meats, baked goods and Illy Coffee, plus Moka Pots by Bialetti. There is limited seating inside, and more outside where you can enjoy your snack or lunch.
2% Jazz Cafe, on the corner of Hillside and Douglas, is a great place to read your morning paper or travel book, and sip one of their wonderful espresso drinks.
At McNeil and Roslyn Avenue in Oak Bay is the Demitasse Grocery, where Rob and his well-trained crew make great espresso drinks and superb baked goods, as well as deli lunch fare, including excellent and unusual pizzas.
Caffe Fantastico, wedged in between two ethnic food kiosks on MacKensie Street in Cook Street Village, makes great espresso drinks, and sells a limited selection of baked goods from various local bakeries.
